DAVID H. HANKS is a US Navy Veteran and has a distinguished career in the nuclear field as a senior reactor operator, reactor shift manager, international safeguards inspector, and nuclear nonproliferation analyst. He retired from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2021, and now lives with his family in Augusta, Georgia. He continues to refine his writing skills, which are recognized in many internationally accepted technical papers and as an author of several novels.
He has worked as the international safeguards initiatives program manager at the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). Previous to his position at SRNL, David was appointed to an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) (United Nations) nuclear safeguards inspector post in Vienna, Austria, serving as country officer, site officer and inspector at various fuel cycle facilities from 2002 until 2009.
David is among the recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the IAEA in 2005 and has three published novels, Black Waters, Power and Ore, and Euphrates Yield (nuclear thrillers). He is also a Writer and Producer for Eight Years, a movie about the murder and concealment of Hellen Griffin Hanks. The script was selected for 2023 Second Rounder at the Austin Film Festival in Drama Feature Screenplay.
